    Cruise Ships

"Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc." developed this program in order to help travel related companies during times of crises. It is designed to help big companies such as airlines and hotel chains and also small and medium size companies such as restaurants, local ground transportations, nightclubs, gift shops, and thousands more.

The organization takes pride in the fact that the program is not merely giving those companies founds to compensate them for lost of business. To the opposite, the core of this program is to keep them operating in order to demonstrate normality and provide jobs to their employees and to every associate service that they need to operate with.

The program was first offered to help small businesses of Waikiki, Hawaii. Few selected Catamaran and Kayak businesses were chosen to be the model for the program. Those are small companies of about 5-20 employees each.

The plan was to use them in order to make a statement and provide each of them enough business in order to hire 1-3 extra employees. That was not so much due to economic desire but more so in order to make a statement after September 11th that it is easy to overcome the recession.

Unfortunately, those ideas were very new and the founder at the time received almost no help from the relevant partiers.

Note - many of the ideas of "Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc." are inspired with the founder's personal experience in Hawaii during the months after September 11th and with his attempt to help the travel industry of New Orleans after hurricane Katrina.

"Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc." will be always seeking creative ways that will help all the relevant parties. The following suggestions are inspired with the fact that after September 11th couple of the founder's friends lost their jobs from the cruise liners. For that reason, the ideas below are designed to help the cruise industry.

As part of the tourist industry, cruise ships play an important role in Hawaii economy. However, after September 11th the shipping companies stopped operating for a period of 2 or 3 months. During that time they laid off most of their crew. Furthermore, companies that provided the cruise ships with services (food related services, ground transportation, etc) were also affected - a fact that hurt the economy even more.

Their decision was purely business oriented due to the decline in tourism to the island. It was cheaper for them to stop operating and by that also reduce their headache of working with employees and customers. They may have (NEED TO CHECK) also received government bailout to compensate for their lost. All in all, we can understand their logic and selfish interest in stopping their operation for a period.

Yet, "Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc." challenges in this site whatever aren't we playing into the terrorists hands by hurting the economy even more. Wasn't September 11th a time in which the entire public should have stepped up to the plate and made extra efforts in saving the economy?

"Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc." promotes the idea that after September 11th people should not have been laid off. We say this because the President declared America being at war - a time in which society must be flexible and work together in order to overcome crises.

There are times in which society - including companies - must give priority to the good of the nation - even when it requires a bit of sacrifice on their behalf. September 11th was sure a such time!

"Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc." request at such time from the cruise line is to provide instead of the normal 7-8 day cruise a shorter version of 3 day cruise to one or two neighbor islands. This will allow them to provide much cheaper tickets.

In addition, the cruise liner will give even greater discount, which will allow them a symbolic profit without any layoff of their crewmembers. Remind you that extra profit could be gained through other services of the cruise operations such as shops, entertainment and drinks on board.

We suggest starting providing their tickets at the ratio of about 50% towards the tourists at a small discount and 50% of their tickets to LOCAL Hawaiian companies at a much greater discount. As the travel industry improves and the more tickets they are able to sell to the tourists the less they will offer to the local companies.

This, by the way, would provide another great benefit by improving the morale of the local community. Many of the locals are not able to afford a normal 8-day cruise. Therefore, a discounted 3-day cruise would be greatly appreciated by them. For many of them this would be a lifetime opportunity.

"Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc." does not have the authority or even the moral or legal right to get involved with the business operation of those companies. However, we strive to suggest ideas that will represent the need of the community as a whole.

We will not get involved with the details but will sure campaign for standards and publicly announce our expectations. "Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc." is committed to take pro-active approach in bringing the travel industry back to normal within the shortest period of time and to do the best in order to prevent mass layoffs.

Ironically, one of our biggest obstacles may be government bailout. "Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc." is at times in favor of providing government bailout in order to help struggling industry. However, not when the bailout itself becomes incentive for companies to stop their service. We provide later a page dedicated to this subject.
